Melon pan ice cream sandwich
Warm-style bun, cold ice cream. Melon pan is a sweet bun with a crunchy cookie crust. Fill it with vanilla ice cream for a dessert that Japanese cafés sell for twice the price.
What to buy
- Melon panメロンパンA round sweet bun with a crisp, sugary cookie layer on top, named for its look, not its taste (most have no melon at all). Bread aisle.
- Vanilla ice cream cupバニラアイスA small cup of vanilla ice cream from the freezer. Any brand works.
How to make it
- Cut or tear the melon pan in half sideways, like a burger bun.
- Spoon the ice cream onto the bottom half.
- Put the top back on and eat it before the ice cream melts.
